Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens will be able to leave the team`s training camp for a few days and head to Paris for the Olympic Games.


Owens` wife, gymnast Simone Biles, will compete in Paris as part of the US team.


Owens and Biles got married last year. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the footballer was unable to attend the Olympic Games in Tokyo three years ago.


Owens became Chicago`s starter this offseason. He previously played for the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans.


Chicago training camp opens July 19th. The preseason Hall of Fame Game is scheduled for Aug. 1.


Artistic gymnastics competitions at the Olympic Games will be held on July 28 (qualification) and July 30 (team final). The individual competition, where Biles is considered one of the favorites, will take place on August 1.
